Some time for history
Construction workers leaving at 5am brought us out of our tent. The man next to us was an enivonmental engineer for a pipeline construction company. He used to live in Alaska and ran the Yukon Quest Dogsled Race back in 82 & 83. We had to dry the rainfly and tarp as it was real wet from the overnight fog. We hit the road at 7:20am as the wind from the south was picking up speed. We are heading north, what a treat. Our stop in Volborg was an interesting one. The only thing left is a general store/post office. Mail was delivered ever other day. It could be worse. We started pedaling north with a steady wind behind us and crossed under I-94 4 hours later. A stop at Wal-mart for supplies and then DQ for a treat. The clouds were building and getting darker so we headed across town to the KOA campground. We just made it as it poured just after the tent went up. We headed to the launndry room to read and check out the weather forecast for tomorrow. It doesn't look good, rain and more rain. After several hours the rain let up and we headed to the tent for some shut eye. The forecast was correct-rain. We headed back to the laundry room and had a rollup and looked for something to do locally and closeby. We found the Range Rider Museum and made that our mission for the day. Lots of interesting items and tons of history from the 1800's to the present was found in the many buildings. The DQ was calling us back for a late lunch and then groceries for the ride tomorrow from Wal-mart. We made it back to the campground just before the afternoon rains started. We did laundry and dried everything that was wet before heading to bed.
