Shelter for the night
Our neighbor met us at 8:00am for departure photos and wished us good luck. We took Maple street west to 215th street to avoid the heavey traffic between Wichita and Goddard. We rode 3 miles on highway 54 and then took the frontage road to Garden Plain for a much needed bathroom break. Rode back to the highway 54 and continued west toward Kingman. We saw plenty of typical Kansas scenery, grasslands and tilled fields. The tailwind propelled us down the road and in just 3 hours we had covered 38 miles. A Subway sandwich was our choice for lunch today. Only 7 miles to our campsite at Kingman State Fishing Lake. We located the picnic shelter and set up our tent under it's covered roof. Hopefully we won't get wet tonight. We walked around the lake and took some sunset photos before retiring to the tent for some reading. I was sound asleep by 8pm.
