The people of Cordova, AK really know how to celebrate. They had their 4th of July celebration on the 3rd so as not to conflict with family picnics on the 4th. It is a small town with a big party attitude. There were all sorts of street games and a free all-you-can-eat BBQ and pie eating for all. They didn't let the constant rain and 49 degree temp stop anything. There were no official fireworks, however, because it doesn't get dark enough. They save those for New Years. We spent the day eating with and meeting several Cordovans and then went back to our tent for another night of pouring rain. Thank goodness this tent doesn't leak.
