DAY 5, June 18, 2010
We have now had two nights rest here in Haines Junction. Did a little shopping for food for the road. Now we are off to watch the start of the relay race. Should be interesting seeing 1200 cyclists heading up the hill from this little village. Then we will head northwest on the Alcan towards Tok. There is not much between here and there except mountains and little camps, so we may not be able to update the blog again for quite some time. No cell service in the Yukon either, so don't worry if we are incomunicado for a few days.

It's me, the vet! It was good meeting you on the ferry. I made it to Anchorage safely! The Canada portion of the drive had some phenomenal views! On the first day of driving, a loosely organized caravan of 8 cars made our way to Tok. From there, we went our separate ways -- Fairbanks, Deadhorse, Homer, etc. Lodging was hard to come by in Tok, but was able to find an excellent, quaint B&B (Mooseberry B&B) to recuperate from the long drive. And they have free WiFi! If you want to spoil yourself instead of camping, I would recommend staying there.
ReplyDeleteThank you for giving me the URL for your blog and I look forward to your future entries. Again it was a pleasure meeting you both!

Happy Father's Day, Cal! We are on our way to take M&D copies of your blog entries and blizzards. Haven't heard you post any news about ice cream this trip!
